Double Cone
Blender
Gentle tumbling action for uniform mixing of dry powders and granules. Designed for pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and nutraceutical industries with full GMP compliance.

What Is a Double Cone Blender?
The Yinda Double Cone Blender is a batch mixing machine designed for dry powders and granular materials. Its distinctive shape -- two symmetrical cones welded together -- creates a vessel that tumbles materials gently and efficiently without the need for internal agitators.
As the vessel rotates, gravity causes materials to cascade and fold continuously, achieving a homogeneous blend in 10-20 minutes. This tumbling action produces no shear forces, making it ideal for fragile granules, heat-sensitive powders, and applications where product integrity must be maintained.
Uniform Mixing
Dual-cone geometry ensures even material distribution with no dead zones
Gentle Tumbling
No shear or impact forces -- safe for fragile and heat-sensitive materials
Hygienic Design
Stainless steel construction meets GMP and food safety standards
Fully Customizable
Multiple capacities, optional intensifier bar, pneumatic discharge valve

Optional: Intensifier Bar
For powders with poor flowability or significant density differences, an optional intensifier bar (internal agitator) can be installed inside the vessel. This breaks up agglomerates and improves mixing uniformity without compromising the gentle action of the tumbling motion.
Safety Net Protection
The machine can be equipped with a safety net guard. When an operator approaches the rotating vessel, the safety net triggers an automatic stop, protecting personnel from rotating parts.
Working Principle
The double cone blender uses the tumbling method -- gravity-driven cascading rather than mechanical agitation -- to achieve thorough, gentle mixing.
Loading
Materials are loaded through the feed inlet -- via vacuum feeder or manual charging. Optimal fill level is 35-50% of total vessel volume.
Rotation
The worm gear drive starts the vessel rotating on its central axis. The digital timer is set for the required mixing duration (0-60 minutes).
Tumbling
As the vessel rotates, materials cascade and fold between the two cones. Gravity drives continuous redistribution -- no shear, no grinding, no heat generation.
Discharge
After mixing, the vessel is positioned with the outlet at the bottom. Material discharges through a manual butterfly valve or optional pneumatic control valve.

Double Cone vs. Other Blenders
Understanding the differences helps you choose the right blender for your specific material and process requirements.
| Feature | Double Cone Blender | V Blender | Octagonal Blender |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mixing Method | Tumbling / gravity cascade | Interleaving & splitting | Slow rotation with internal bar |
| Inspection Ports | 1 port | 2 ports | Multiple (8 faces) |
| Solid Components | 2-5 solid types | 2-10 solid types | 2-5 solid types |
| Mixing Speed | Moderate | Faster | Slowest |
| Headspace | Requires more height | More compact | Moderate |
| Cleaning | Easy -- large opening, no corners | Easy -- 2 access ports | Moderate |
| Best For | Gentle blending, pharma, food | High-efficiency batch mixing | Quality-focused, gentle action |
| Internal Agitator | Optional intensifier bar | Not standard | Yes -- small rod bar |
Double Cone vs. V Blender
The V Blender uses two intersecting cylinders to create an interleaving and splitting action, making it faster for certain materials and capable of handling more component types (up to 10). It has two inspection ports for easier access.
The Double Cone Blender is preferred when headspace is limited or when the smoother, more enclosed vessel shape offers better containment. Its single-port design suits applications where minimal opening is desired.
Double Cone vs. Octagonal Blender
The Octagonal Blender has 8 flat sides and rotates at the slowest speed of the three, prioritizing product quality over throughput. Its internal rod bar helps break up agglomerates during the gentle rotation.
The Double Cone Blender operates at moderate speed and is more functionally versatile. It is the more common choice for standard pharmaceutical and food blending operations.
Advantages & Limitations
We believe in helping you make the right decision. Here is an honest overview of what the Double Cone Blender does well -- and where other equipment may be more suitable.
Advantages
Large Capacity Handling
Can blend 2-5 different solid types per batch. Handles single material weights up to 50 kg and batch volumes from 100L to 4000L.
Easy to Clean
Large internal space allows cleaning agent rotation inside the vessel. Can also be disassembled for thorough inside-out cleaning. No internal dead corners.
Low Maintenance
Simple mechanical structure with few moving parts. Not a high-maintenance machine. Worm gear drive is reliable and long-lasting.
Minimal Product Loss
Fully enclosed design with no open surfaces. Low spillage risk, minimal dust generation, and very low material loss per batch.
Limitations
May Require Serial Dilution
When powders with very different concentrations or densities flow freely inside the vessel, serial dilution may be needed to maintain synchronous mixing throughout the batch.
Not Ideal for Ultra-Fine Particles
Not well-suited for extremely fine or cohesive powders (e.g., fine silica) that tend to clump. An intensifier bar or a different blender type may be required.
Requires Adequate Ceiling Height
The vessel rotates on a horizontal axis and requires sufficient headroom -- especially for larger models. Facility ceiling height must be confirmed before installation.
