V Mixer /
V Blender
Gentle, efficient, and hygienic dry powder blending for food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial applications. Built to GMP standards with full customization support.

What Is a V Mixer?
The V Mixer -- also known as a V Blender or Twin Shell Blender -- is a batch blending machine designed for dry powders, granules, and other free-flowing solid materials. Its distinctive "V"-shaped shell is formed by two hollow cylinders welded together at an angle of 75° to 90°.
As the V-shaped container rotates, materials repeatedly split and recombine between the two arms, achieving uniform mixing through a diffusion mechanism. Because there are no internal agitator blades, the process is exceptionally gentle -- ideal for fragile granules, heat-sensitive powders, and applications where particle integrity must be preserved.

How Does a V Mixer Work?
The V Mixer operates on the principle of diffusion blending -- a low-shear, tumble-based mixing mechanism that achieves high uniformity without damaging materials.
Loading
Materials are loaded through the two feed inlets at the top of the V-shell. Fill level should be 40%-70% of total volume for optimal blending.
Rotation
The container rotates around its horizontal axis at 5-25 rpm. The V-shape causes the material to repeatedly split between the two arms and recombine at the base.
Diffusion
Each rotation cycle causes particles to move randomly relative to each other. Over 8-10 minutes, this achieves a highly uniform blend with minimal segregation.
Discharge
The blended material is discharged through a butterfly valve at the bottom of the V-shell. The valve design ensures low residue and easy cleaning.

Advantages & Limitations
Understanding both the strengths and constraints of V Mixer technology helps you make the right equipment decision for your process.
Advantages
- Easy to Operate & MaintainSimple structure with straightforward loading, discharging, moving, and cleaning procedures. Minimal operator training required.
- No Internal AgitatorsNo paddles or blades inside the mixing chamber -- minimizes particle breakage and wear, ideal for granules and fragile materials.
- No Shaft Penetrating the Mixing ChamberEliminates shaft seal contamination risk -- critical for pharmaceutical and food-grade applications.
- Optional Intensifier Bar & Liquid SprayCan be configured with a lump breaker and liquid addition system to extend application range.
- Digital Control PanelMonitors and controls rotation speed and mixing time for consistent, repeatable batch results.
- Closed Loading System AvailableSupports dust-free loading configurations for contained powder handling environments.
Limitations to Consider
- High Headroom RequiredInstallation requires sufficient ceiling clearance to accommodate the full rotation arc of the V-shell. Confirm building height before ordering.
- Not Suitable for Large Particle/Density DifferencesMaterials with significantly different particle sizes or bulk densities may segregate during discharge. Consider other blender types for such combinations.
- Not Suitable for Sticky or Cohesive MaterialsHigh-moisture, high-fat, or cohesive materials tend to clump and adhere to the shell wall. A Ribbon Blender or Sigma Mixer may be more appropriate.
- Batch Process OnlyThe V Mixer is a batch blender and is not designed for continuous processing. For continuous blending lines, other equipment configurations should be considered.
